However, &nbsp;excessive workload can lead to stress and burnout, which in turn may undermine their commitment. This is particularly evident during pandemics like COVID-19, when nurses face grater challenges. This study aimed to investigate the association between professional commitment and workload among Iranian nurses during the pandemic.</span></span></span><br> <span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif">Methods: </span></span></span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif">This cross-sectional, correlational study</span></span></span> <span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif">was conducted on a convenience sample of 245 eligible nurses caring for COVID-19 patients working in three hospitals affiliated with Qazvin University of Medical Sciences, Iran- who were recruited </span></span></span><span lang="EN" style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif">from January 2022 to July 2022</span></span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif">. Data were collected via demographic characteristics checklist, Nurses&rsquo; Activities Score (NAS), and Nurses&rsquo; Professional Commitment Scale (NPCS) and analyzed using multivariate linear regression model using SPSS-26 software. The significance level was considered P < 0.05.</span></span></span></span></span></span><br> <span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif">Results: </span></span></span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif">The mean score of workload and professional commitment of the nurses were 77.96 (SD=23.93) and 87.23 (SD= 14.12), respectively. </span></span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif">&nbsp;&nbsp;Mutivariate regression analysis model showed that workload negatively (&beta; = - 0.408, P = 0.001) and employment in critical care (&beta; = 0.527, P = 0.001), and medical-surgical departments (&beta; = 0.170, P = 0.048) positively were associated with the nurses&#39; professional commitment. Generally, the variables included in the multivariate regression model explained (23%) of the changes related to the professional commitment. &nbsp;</span></span></span></span></span></span><br> <span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif">Conclusion:</span></span></span></b> <span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif">&nbsp;The present study may help nursing managers to better understand the factors associated with nurses&rsquo; professional commitment during pandemics.
